Ashley Strange is in her junior year at Trinity Washington University where she studies’ Communication and English. Ashley is a summer 2015 intern at Street Sense; a place where she can build upon her journalism skills. She is an alumnus of the D.C. foster care system where she spent five years after the death of her mother. Ashley works for a nonprofit organization called The Young Women’s Project where she advocates for foster youth, emancipated foster youth, and homeless youth.
Street Sense is a D.C. area Newspaper that helps the homeless. Street Sense Publishes the newspaper, the vendors (homeless) buy the papers for 50 cent each, and the $2 donation that vendors receive from people on the street goes directly to them. It’s a great program that is sure to be around for many years to come.
